Review: Bvlgari Splendida Iris d'Or

Hello ladies,

a few months ago I met the most amazing man, the man of my dreams.

And he came with a few presents. One of those presents was perfume. Apparently, he had taken me raving about the scent of butterfly bush and how there is only one perfume that smelled like it, as a hint for a present. It made my heart melt that he had made the effort to remember the name of the perfume.

The perfume was Iris d'Or by Bvlgari. I'm not a Bvlgari person, I'm not even a perfume person, but I certainly am a fragrance and flower person.

Scents, to me, are best when they resemble the true flower. Nothing smells better than real vanilla, ylang ylang or tiaré flower.

I have already made a post about the best smelling flowers in the world. One bush underrated compared to roses, is butterfly bush. Why has no one ever turned it into an absolute? Butterfly bush smells of heaven, why else do you think butterflies are attracted to them?

I searched everywhere but there isn't even a perfume that has notes of butterfly bush, not even close. What gives?

So one day I was testing perfumes randomly at the departement store and something caught my attention. The Iris d'Or perfume. It didn't have any floral references. Oh...wait...yeah... "Iris"... lol... it doesn't smell like iris. Do iris flowers even have a scent? It reminds me of when Nivea made a "butterfly bush blush" and put lilac flowers on the compact. Hmmmm. This is why I don't like the perfume business. Everything smells so chemical and fake. I know there is some addictive stuff in there that I personally like as well like Light Blue by Dolce and Gabanna or Homme Sport by Channel. But that's it. I remember my mother trying perfume with a flower name like "piony" and I asked her if it smelled of piony. It didn't.

But once I smelled this perfume it I was amazed by a warm but light, citrussy but sensual and heavenly scent that strikingly resembled butterfly bush. It sort of proves again how perfume business is just all gibberish, all luck. It has nothing to do with iris. I don't even like iris. I like butterfly bush, hehe.

I have only used it a few times to spare it, but I can say that, if you look for a butterfly bush like scent, this might be your thing!

Starting at 65 euros online.
